At least two individuals have been confirmed dead and four others were injured in a three-vehicle accident at Bubule Village on the Kampala–Masaka highway on Monday night.

According to Mr Sula Ssebuffu, the accident happened about 8 p.m. when a UPDF double cabin pick-up with the registration number H4DF 1654 traveling from Kampala collided head-on with a Saloon car with the registration number UAV 446H traveling in the other direction.

At the same time, a commuter taxi TI62DQJ, also from Kampala, collided with the double cabin pickup, generating even more havoc.

“Despite the fact that it was dark, the driver of the UPDF double cabin pick up was speeding.” He lost control of his vehicle and collided with a saloon car on its way to Kampala,” he explained.

The deceased man and lady had not been identified by 9:30 a.m. by the territorial police in Katonga Region. Ms Lydia Tumushabe, a spokesman for the Katonga regional police, told this website that “the two victims died as they were being taken to Mpigi Health Centre IV.”

The Kampala-Masaka route is one of the country’s most accident-prone, with over 100 fatalities annually.

She put the accident down to careless driving.
