News: The Parliamentary Committee on Trade, Industries, and Tourism has summoned the directors of ten energy drink companies following allegations that some of their products give people tremendous sexual performance.

The Uganda National Drug Authority (UNDA), Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), and Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) have all been summoned by the committee to discuss consumer protection problems.

Last Monday, the minister of state for Gender Peace Mutuuzo announced that some alcoholic drinks are being disguised as energy drinks, necessitating the investigation of the companies responsible by the competent government organizations.

The committee had previously met with officials from Uganda’s National Bureau of Standards to discuss issues relating to the rise of substandard items on the Ugandan market.

Officials confronted legislators’ wrath over the fate of over 2000 cars still stranded in Kenyan and Tanzanian ports as a result of a rule prohibiting the importation of vehicles older than 15 years.
