The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has summoned MPs Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana representing Kawempe North and Makindye East Constituencies respectively in the 11th Parliament over thegreat Masaka murders.
The two legislators have to appear at Masaka Police Station on Monday 6th September 2021 at 10 am to record a statement in regard to the greater Masaka mysterious murders that have dominated headlines over the past couple of weeks.
Earlier in the week, Information Minister Chris Baryomunsi while conducting a press conference at the Uganda Media Center linked the Murders to the opposition. Baryomunsi said the murders are being sponsored by the opposition especially the NUP MPs to cause havoc in the region.
Upon being served with the summon with letters, the Legislators perceived the summons as political games by the state.
The MPs wondered how rational it is to link a legislator representing a Kampala constituency to the greater Masaka murders. Several opposition leaders have disputed the summons saying it’s politics at play by the state.
The Masaka murders resurfaced in July 2021 in nearly 4 years and about 30 people have been murdered mysteriously by the unknown assailants “Bijambiya”.
