Match day 3 of the 2021/22 season kicks off with a mouth-watering lunchtime clash between the reigning champions Man City and sinking Arsenal team yet to register any point in the league this term.
Indeed, it has been a brutal start for the North London giants in nearly 30 years having fell-short in their first two opening matches with back-to-back defeats at Brentford and European champions Chelsea with no goal scored yet.
Despite the torrid start in the league, Arteta’s side thumped Championship outfit West brom in the Carabao cup 6-0 and the Spaniard is optimistic that his side will gulvernize momentum from the win at the Hortons and head into the tie against Guardiola men with confidence.
Arteta’s decision to go full strength on Wednesday night yielded results as club captain Pierre Aubamayang grabbed his third Arsenal hat rick as well as an impressive display by Martin Odeegard on his debut. Saka, Ramsdele and Pepe also impressed.
The gunners have fallen victim to the citizens in the league losing 10 of their last 12 meetings. Man City will seek to consolidate the win registered last week against Norwich city despite losing their first game of the campaign in North London against Spurs.
Man City 4-2-3-1 Ederson, Walker, Diaz, Larporte, Zinchenko;. Rodri, Gundagun; Mahrez, Silver, Grealish;. Sterling.
Arsenal. 3-4-2-1. Leno, Holding, Mari,Tierney;. Cedric, Lokonga, Xhaka, Saka; Odeegard, Pepe; Aubamayang.
Arsenal’s emphatic win at Westrom will obviously boast their confidence, but this tie comes pretty early to their liking. A plethora of problems at the back and lack of creativity in the middle of the park triggers a potential loss for Arsenal. We say Man City 3-1 Arsenal.
