The suspected terrorists were planning to carry out sucide bombings at the burial of Gen. Lokech’s burial ceremony.
A man suspected to be an ADF agent allegedly planning to carryout suicide bombings during the burial of the fallen Assistant Inspector General of Police Gen. Peter Lokech has been arrested in a joint security raid in Pader on Thursday afternoon. Ahead of the burial ceremony on Friday, the Cheiftancy for Military Intelligence (CMI) and Counterterrorism Forces carried out raids on lodges and hotels in Padar Town Council.
The suspect identified as Abdul Katumba a.k.a. Ben an agent of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) was arrested from Atimikica Guest house in Pader Town Council with another identified terrorist who vanished.
Upon Security personal entering his room, the suspect attempted to run only to be restrained by the security operatives. A detonator, explosives and a suicide jacket were discovered in his room.
The ADF is led by Jamilu Mukuru who was arrested in 2018 and is currently imprisoned at Luzira prison, the terrorist outfit is responsible for several terror attacks in the Country and DRC.
The suspect informed Security that he was planning to blow himself during the burial of fallen “Lion of Mogadishu” Gen. Lokech who died last week on Saturday at his home in Kira Municipality succumbing to a blood clot in his lungs and will be laid to rest today Friday 27th August in Pader District.
He revealed that he was going to disguise himself as a mourner then blow himself amidst other mourners. The suspect is being held at Pader police station and the hunt for his colleagues is on by Security.
There is heavy security presence at the burial ground ahead of the burial ceremony and the district at large ahead of the burial. Atimikica guest house Is currently sealed off and a heavy security presence has been observed at the crime scene.
