The deputy inspector general of police Maj. Gen Paul lokech has died this morning, Lokech is said to have died of a blood clot at about 10am.
The UPDF spokesperson, Brig. Gen Flavia byekwaso informed the public this morning about the passing on of the lion of Mogadishu on her Twitter handle saying “the UPDF fraternity regrets to announce to the passing on of the deputy inspector of police MaJ. Gen Paul lokech. More details to follow. May hi is soul rest in eternal peace.”
It should be noted that on 15th December 2020, the president and commander in chief of the armed forces, Gen Yoweri museveni appointed Maj. Gen Paul Lokech the deputy inspector general of police, replacing fellow senior army officer, Maj. Gen Sabiti Muzeyi who has served in the position for two years.
Gen. Lokech joined the national resistance army (NRA) later turned UPDF on 1st Feb 1987. One of his most recent prominent assignments was heading the Ugandan troops in Somali where he significantly weakened the Al Shabbab terrorist group in 2011, hence the lion of Mogadishu.
Gen. Lokech is the second general to died in the space of one week after Gen. Pecos kuteesa.
