A man identified as Thomas Katongole, 35 collapsed and died while on his way to collect his share of Covid-19 relief food that was distributed by Mityana Municipality Mp Hon Francis Zaake Butebi at Gombola grounds in Mityana district.
The late Katongole was a resident of Katanga Kibibi Garage B Lc1 in Busimbi Sub County in Mityana district. Zaake had arranged the food distribution to over 700 people that were highly affected by the second lockdown that was imposed by the president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
It is alleged that the deceased was killed by the starvation he has been facing after the suspension of mobile markets where he had been working for survival. However the Wamala Region Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala said that they are still investigating to find out whether his cause of death is either connected to Covid-19 or hunger and they are yet to enact the exact cause of his death.
Investigations upon his death is ongoing before he is taken to his home district Kasanda for burial.
