International friendly: Uganda Cranes suffers a 3-2 defeat against Bafana Bafana.

Uganda cranes went head to head with South Africa (Bafana Bafana) in an international friendly that was played on thursday, June 10 at 7:00 PM local time [Thursday, June 10 at 9:30 PM IST]. The two teams  battled at the Orlando Stadium, Johannesburg. 

Cranes coming in the game without its long time players, Captain Denis Onyago inclusive, all eyes were set on the young inexperienced team  opting to see its performance on a big night.

Cranes have had a dismal run in the past few games, they remain winless in their last 6 games. The team last won an international game in November against Sudan. The Cranes will be looking to find some sort of motivation with a win over South Africa.

Uganda matched into the encounter with an abysmal record against their opponents, the Cranes had previously suffered two losses in three matches at the hands of the Bafana. Three second half home goals condemned Uganda to the defeat despite the relatively inexperienced Cranes team starting brightly. It did not take too long to break the deadlock as winger Ibrahim Orit headed captain Emmanuel Okwi’s cross past goalkeeper Ronwen Williams after 17 minutes.

Uganda paid for their poor defending and lack of cohesion as the home team capped off a scintillating second half with a third goal through Makgopa’a second of the night with eight to play,  With goals from I.orit in the 7th minute and L. Abdul in the 89th Minute, Uganda suffered a loss to the South African Side who won the match with 3 goals.  (B. Hlongwane’s 67-minute score before the Two (2) goals from E. Makgopa 62 and 83rd minute that sealed the victory over the team from the East African land.
