Uganda wild authority (UWA) has shut down the ZZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY on grounds of miss understanding between “ZZIWA RHINO AND WILD LIFE RANCHES” which can lead to potential threats of Rhinos, this being confirmed in a statement issued out.
“For this to be effectively done UWA has within immediate effect closed the sanctuary to the public and as such, no tourism activities will be undertaken until further notice.”
The sanctuary is located in Nakasongola 76km (100 miles) north of Kampala on the Gulu highway towards Murchison Falls (branch off at Nakitoma Trading centre and it’s Presently a home to twenty two (22) southern white rhinos. UWA came out and said it was finalizing the process of relocating all the rhinos at the sanctuary to a safer and better place.
However, according to the latest statement, they have only taken full charge of the sanctuary in a bid to protect the rhinos in Nakasongola.
