The National Unity Platform came up with a five-member committee with a prime intention of researching who should be backed up as the speaker ahead of the forth coming speakership elections and also point out potential Party subjects on various leadership positions at different levels.
This transpired at Nile hotel in Jinja on Saturday. kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu alias “Bobi wine ” lost with 34.&3% against the incumbent and President elect H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who won with 58.64%, fortunately Kyagulanyi’s NUP managed to hold 59 Members of the parliament.
NUP’s spokesperson and Mp-elect Nakawa West Joel Senyonyi said “The participants who included elected Members of Parliament, district chairpersons, and mayors, also resolved to carry out consultations with the people in regard to a review of the party constitution.
The views collected shall be forwarded to a constitutional review committee headed by Busiro East Member of Parliament Medard Lubega Ssegona, which was set up at the party’s delegates’ conference last year”- Senyonyi said.
There’s still a great deference between mps since some opposition mps are in support of NRM’s Rebecca Kaddaga and others are not, some opposition mps call this deliberate betrayal of the struggle however those who support kaddaga say they’re after effectiveness. Other candidates include Ssemujju Nganda of Kira municipality and Bukoto Central’s MP-elect Robert Ssebamala of the Democratic Party.
